I was a huge fan of the Alice in Wonderland books growing up. (something I don’t think I’ve grown out of) I loved the themes, strangeness, and other oddities of the story. Even today, I find myself using certain themes from the books in my work and art. It is really just one of those things that stuck with me.

In fact, was working on something today and I came across my old Alice In Wonderland book, I was hit with the same inspiration that I used to get from the series when I was younger.

The following designs are personal favorites from the tales.

Enjoy!

The White Rabbit:

Depending on who you ask, I’m more like the perpetually late bunny than I’d normally care to admit.

Alice:

What would this list be without Alice herself? Of course, the Red Queen as well, and while there aren’t any images of her I’d like to think she’s still being represented by the iconic card soldiers.

Dodo:

I had always found the Dodo (and The Caucus Race chapters that he’s in) to be a personal favorite. I’m still not sure why exactly, especially since the character (from the book) isn’t one that seems to be widely remembered.

The Tea Party:

The Tea Party is still one of my favorite part of the books, and the movies as well. The Mad Hatter’s.. madness and the illustration above showing how agitated Alice is becoming always bring me back to reading this for the first time.

The Cheshire Cat:

Out of all the characters, none can really compare to the sheer insanity that was the Cheshire cat. Aside from Alice herself, he is one of the most recognizable and remembered from the books and adaptions.

What inspires you?

Maybe it’s something that brings back memories, maybe its just something you treasure, or you aren’t sure why it does. Give some love to those treasured objects in the comments!
