This is one of my favorite projects.  It is so easy to make, and it can be made larger or smaller.
You can also make it in so many different looks, it’s also great for some quick (and great looking) organization (papers, string, scrap, photos, tons of other things as well).
In the photos below you will see a tiny little hand, it’s my ‘helper’ (my two year old).

What you will need:
  • Ribbon
  • Cloth
  • Cotton Batting, or Foam
  • Cork Board
  • Glue & Tape

Cut out a piece of cotton batting that is roughly the size of your cork board to your desired thickness.  A little larger or smaller is fine, and it won’t effect the finished project.

Cut out your fabric with at least 2 inches extra on all sides.

Secure the corners first (in this tutorial I do go a bit nuts with the duct tape).

Fold the long sides over the corners to make a nice and tidy seam.

Still rocking the duct tape.  This is beneficial to assure everything is in the right spot we’ll be securing it better later.

While you don’t have to use the squares method, it is one of the easiest.  I love the look of this ribbon it has a slight sheen to it and is see through enough to add to the overall look.

If you would like to jump ahead (this will be in part two) secure the overlapping areas with buttons, or just a needle and thread.

The corners more than likely won’t all line up, when they are secured we will be fixing that.
